Dovecot Mail Service In Linux – Start, Stop, Restart, Reload, Status, Enable

Dovecot is an open source IMAP and POP3 email server for Linux/UNIX-like systems.

  • Start: 
    service dovecot start

    or

    systemctl start dovecot
  • Stop: 
    service dovecot stop

    or

    systemctl stop dovecot
  • Restart: 
    service dovecot restart

    or

    systemctl restart dovecot
  • Reload: 
    service dovecot reload

    or

    systemctl reload dovecot
  • Status: 
    service dovecot status

    or

    systemctl status dovecot
  • Enable Dovecot Mail Service on Boot 
    chkconfig dovecot on

    or

    systemctl enable dovecot
  • Dovecot default configuration file location 
    vi /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf

How to Fix the ‘Preview Could Not Be Loaded’ Error?

Probable causes:

  1. No Theme: Some of your theme files are missing.
  2. Corrupted .htaccess: ‘Your site’s .htaccess file appears to be missing.
  3. HTTP Errors: format is < error message> content depends on the code.

Solutions. Try the following:

  1. Enable Safe Mode.
    • If the error message gone, then disable safe mode.
    • Deactivate all plugins.
    • Activate plugins one by one and check.
    • Hopefully you can find the conflicted plugin!
  2. Make sure the theme files exist.
  3. Check the structure of your permalinks.
  4. Edit in incognito mode with your browser.
  5. Check PHP version of your hosting.

cd /usr/local/directadmin/custombuild
./build update
./build set exim yes
./build set eximconf yes
./build set eximconf_release 4.5
./build set spamassassin yes
./build update
./build exim
./build exim_conf

Start, stop and restart the Exim mail server

Start Services:

/etc/init.d/exim start

or

service exim start

Stop Services:

/etc/init.d/exim stop

or

service exim stop

Restart Services

/etc/init.d/exim restart

or

service exim restart

Status of Exim service:

/etc/init.d/exim status

or

service exim status

or

systemctl status exim.service

Edit exim conf

vi /etc/exim.conf
