8 common errors that you may have after installing CSF Firewall on Linux CentOS server

  1. *WARNING* Binary location for [CHATTR] [/usr/bin/chattr] in /etc/csf/csf.conf is either incorrect, is not installed or is not executableTo solve this problem, we need to install Ext2 Filesystem Utilities package. Run the following command to install the E2fsprogs package. 
    yum install e2fsprogs
  2. Oops Unable to download Protocol scheme ‘https’ is not supported (IOSocketSSL not installed)If CSF failed to update, then this error occurs. To fix this issue run 
    yum install perl-Crypt-SSLeay perl-Net-SSLeay

    Then try updating CSF.

    csf -u
  3. Oops Unable to download Protocol scheme ‘https’ is not supported (LWPProtocolhttps not installed)
  4. Testing ip_tablesiptable_filter…open3 exec of sbiniptables -I OUTPUT -p tcp –dport 9999 -j ACCEPT failed at usrlocalcsfbincsftest.pl line 144.
  5. *WARNING* Binary location for [SENDMAIL] [/usr/sbin/sendmail] in /etc/csf/csf.conf is either incorrect, is not installed or is not executable*
    WARNING* Missing or incorrect binary locations will break csf and lfd functionality
  6. *WARNING* Binary location for [UNZIP] [usrbinunzip] in etccsfcsf.conf is either incorrect, is not installed or is not executable
  7. *WARNING* URLGET set to use LWP but perl module is not installed, reverting to HTTP::Tiny
  8. *WARNING* Binary location for [HOST] [usrbinhost] in etccsfcsf.conf is either incorrect, is not installed or is not executable

[autoindex:error] No matching DirectoryIndex

[Sun May 17 05:22:43.313979 2020] [autoindex:error] [pid 1234:tid 140222558668] [client 9.1228.110.167:171311] AH01276: Cannot serve directory /home/***/***/***.com/private_html/: No matching DirectoryIndex (index.html,index.htm,index.shtml,index.php,index.phtml) found, and server-generated directory index forbidden by Options directive, referer: https://www.***.com/

Reason One:

Apache Error

By default Apache is configured with the following:

<IfModule dir_module>
DirectoryIndex index.html
</IfModule>

We have to change it to

<IfModule dir_module>
DirectoryIndex index.html index.php
</IfModule>

Adding index.php directive.

How to change?

Open httpd.conf

vi /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf

Change accordingly and then restart httpd

systemctl restart httpd

Reason Two:

Symbolink link error from private_html

“Use a symbolink link from private_html to public_html – allows for same data in http and https” instead of “Use a directory named private_html”

Upgrading and Downgrading DirectAdmin users.

Upgrade a User to a Reseller. Assume that user name is ‘staysafe’.

cd /usr/local/directadmin/scripts
./user_to_reseller.sh staysafe

Upgrading a Reseller to an Admin. Assume that reseller name is ‘bdtopten’.

cd /usr/local/directadmin/data/users/bdtopten
perl -pi -e 's/usertype=reseller/usertype=admin/' user.conf
cd /usr/local/directadmin/data/admin
perl -pi -e 's/^bdtopten\n//' reseller.list
echo bdtopten>> admin.list

Downgrading a Reseller to a User. Assume that reseller name is ‘kitedubd’ and ‘kitedubd’ has no users.

  1. Change user type at user.conf 
    vi /usr/local/directadmin/data/users/kitedubd/user.conf
  2. Change as follows 
    usertype=user
  3. Update admin reseller list, remove ‘kitedubd’ 
    vi /usr/local/directadmin/data/admin/reseller.list
  4. Update admin user list, add ‘kitedubd’ 
    vi /usr/local/directadmin/data/users/admin/users.list
  5. Done!

How to change UID and GID? chown

UID = User ID
GID = Group ID

We can change UID and GID with command ‘chown’ login with SSH.

chown -R newuserID:newgroupID folder_name

For example, to change myfolder UID and GID

chown -R bdhostit:bdhostit myfolder

or to change maildir UID and GID. Here, “bdhostit” is account’s username.

chown -R bdhostit:mail /home/bdhostit/domains/Maildir
