How to migrate cPanel account to DirectAdmin

The CPanel conversion script currently only works for Admin Level restores. You must have to be admin.
Four easy steps of migrating cPanel account to DirectAdmin

Step 1:
Generate backup data on cPanel. Create full backup of Home Directory.

Step 2:
Rename the generated backup file to cpmove-user.tar.gz and change file permission to 755.

Step 3:
Transfer the backup to DirectAdmin. You can do the transfer in two ways:
1. For beginer: Move the backup to public_html and download it using browser and upload it to user_backups folder of DirectAdmin.
2. For advance user:

  1. Move the backup to public_html.
    Login to root using putty
    Go to user backups folder.

    cd /home/admin/user_backups
  2. Upload the backup from backup url of cPanel website. Run command below:
  3. wget http://website.com/cpmove-user.tar.gz

Step 4:
After successful download to User Backups folder, restore the backup with Admin Tools “Admin Backup/Transfer” of DirectAdmin

Problems

  • I can’t login to DirectAdmin. The login page just refreshes without any errors.
  • Hmm, login details do not seem to be correct. Please try again.

Causes & Solutions

  • IP is changing. You may have rotating internet IP. To resolve that, you can disable the IP check so that your rotating IP is allowed.
  • You may use wrong password. Try resetting the password via ssh as root: 
    passwd username
  • System clock or client clock might be out of sync.

Warning: The system load average is …..

Probable causes of high load:

  1. Load from real users. More users are visiting website and have bigger server load. This may be due to
    • Advertising
    • Sales
    • Miscellaneous
  2. Load from malicious traffic. Should be stopped.
    • Brute-force attacks to login page of websites, such as wp-login.php, /administrator/index.php, /xmlrpc.php, etc
    • Spam bots posting comments to forum, board, forms etc
    • Other malicious activities

Identifying the sources of high load

  1. Check Apache’s server-status page.
  2. Check MySQL: SHOW PROCESSLIST. shows which threads are running.
  3. Check Server logs. For NGINX /var/log/nginx/ , for Apache /var/log/httpd/ , also check domains/ folder.
  4. Check PHP-FPM status page.

Possible solutions

  • Enable Brute-Force monitor
  • Optimize PHP-FPM, MySQL, Apache/Nginx
  • Protect/limit access to login pages
  • Enable reCaptcha, etc.
  • Add your site to CloudFlare

  1. Build Imagick  (can also be  built from DirectAdmin Custombuild) 
    cd /usr/local/directadmin/custombuild
./build update

  2. Build PHP (can also be  built from DirectAdmin Custombuild) 
    ./build php
