How to Fix Errors (options)
- Reset all internal data and power cables.
- Restart your computer.
- Disconnect any external drives.
- Try changing the boot order in BIOS.
- Check the hard disk and other drive settings in BIOS and ensure they’re correct.
- Restore the NTLDR and ntdetect.com files from the Windows XP CD.
- Repair or replace the boot.ini file.
- Write a new partition boot sector to the Windows XP system partition.
- Repair the Windows XP master boot record.
- Try replacing the IDE cable.
- Update your motherboard’s BIOS.
- Perform a repair installation of Windows XP.
- Perform a clean installation of Windows XP.
- Replace the hard drive and then perform a new installation of Windows XP.
