WordPress WP-CLI for updating themes and plugins and more

  • Connect to SSH
  • Run the following commands
    • To update WordPress core: 
      wp core update
    • To update one plugin: 
      wp plugin update plugin-name
    • To update all plugins: 
      wp plugin update --all
    • To update one theme: 
      wp theme update theme-name
    • To update all themes: 
      wp theme update --all

For security reasons, it is recommended to keep WordPress, plugins, and themes up to date.

Export the database with WP-CLI

wp db export filename.sql

Import the database with WP-CLI

wp db import filename.sql

WordPress has a variety of post types to manage content of website. These include posts, pages, portfolio, faq and many more. Sometimes it requires to change or switch post type.

Using a simple plugin the purpose can be successfully completed.
Plugin url: https://wordpress.org/plugins/post-type-switcher/

Install and activate, “Post Type Switcher.”

  • You will find post type converter located on the right side of the WordPress editor under the “Publish” section.
  • Click the “Edit” link next to Post Type and use the drop down box to change the post type.

Press OK and then click “Update” to publish it.

Restore a softaculous backup on a new server

Follow the steps

  • Decompress the .tar.gz backup
  • Find the backupinfo file that named same as the compressed file
  • Open the file to make required changes of softpath, path, softdb, softdbuser, softurl, softdomain

For Example,
Backup file name: wp.26_10029.2021-08-26_23-33-55.tar.gz
Backupinfo file name: wp.26_10029.2021-08-26_23-33-55

Contact Form 7 – Google Sheet Integration

  • Connect google sheet with contact form 7

CF7 Google Sheets Connector

  • Install “CF7 Google Sheets Connector” Plugin which will send the Contact Form’s data to the Google Sheet.

Google Spreadsheet

  • Create a google sheet at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets
  • In Google Sheets, provide the Columns name in Row 1. (For eg. “your-name”, “your-email”, “your-subject”, “your-message”, etc).
  • Name the first column as “date” if you want to keep the record of the date.

Google Sheet Settings

From dashboard click on the form and go to the Google Sheets tab.

  • Google Sheet Name
  • Google Sheet Id
  • Google Sheet Tab Name
  • Google Tab Id
